Since February 2019, residents at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, have been participating in what they dubbed the Baby Blanket Club.
These ladies worked on 15 baby blankets, finishing them in late April.
“This little club has been a great thing for our ladies who were able to participate,” said Tracey Smith, former activities assistant. “It has built friendships and allowed for a lot of laughter.”
On May 21, six residents took an outing to deliver the blankets to Birthright of Cape Girardeau, a center that provides support, education and resources for women with unplanned pregnancies.
“The staff and volunteers at Birthright were thrilled with the blankets and our visit,” Smith shared. “They showed us how our blankets would be used to cover the laundry basket of goodies that each new mom receives just before giving birth. The ladies enjoyed meeting new people and talking to them. Several of our ladies had used Birthright, and some of their daughters had as well.”
Artie Nicholson, one of the ladies who went on the trip, shared, “How nice it was that I was able to give back to an organization that has given to me and my family.”
